One Fulani herdsmen killed,Bende community clash in Aba


One person has been killed and several others injured as gunmen suspected to be Fulani herdsmen and the people of Umuobasikwu, Ozuitem community in Bende local government area of Abia State clashed on Sunday.

The clash is also said to have led to the damaging of crops and farm lands worth several millions of naira.

The Commissioner of Police (CP) Leye Oyebade, while speaking with newsmen on Monday in Umuahia, said that the situation had been brought under control.

He said men from the command had been drafted to the affected area.

The police boss, who personally visited the area, urged both parties to embrace peace, noting that no meaningful peace would come out if the situation was not brought under control.

He said that a large committee comprising representatives of the herdsmen, Hausa/ Fulani community, the local community, the state government, security agencies and other stakeholders had been constituted to resolve the face- off.

In his reaction, the Chairman of Methi-Allah in the state, Hassan Buba appealed to herdsmen to embrace peace and live in harmony with their host communities.

Nollywood Actor, Charles Okafor receives N168m from Swiss Govt For his New Movie.

The Switzerland Government has given Nollywood actor, Charles Okafor $450,000 ( N168million) to do a movie that centers on the dangers of living illegally in Europe. The new movie which is exclusively sponsored by the State Secretariat for Migration (SEM) will be aired on Nigerian television stations. Speaking through spokesperson, Lukas Rieder, the authority revealed that one of the causes of illegal migration is the lack of information or false information. “Human traffickers tell potential migrants that Switzerland is paradise, it’s El Dorado. But that’s not true. We want to provide objective information about the dangers of passage, and the dangers of living in Switzerland.” The movie, titled Missing Steps, tells the story of a 20-something-year-old university-educated protagonist.
